The Academy was founded in September 1999 by Master Derek Sumner. Since then Livingwell has grown into a nationally and internationally recognised club, renowned for its' performance on both a regional and national level.

Whilst our primary club is in Horley, we also have affiliated clubs in Woodhatch (Reigate), Blackheath (London), & Copthorne (Sussex) for those further afield.

Master Derek Sumner has over 25 years experience in martial arts and fitness training and is now a full time instructor. Master Derek Sumner is an 8th Dan Grand Master World Chung Do Kwan and in 2022 was inducted into the World Taekwondo Hall of Fame.

Livingwell Taekwondo Academy has a senior team of approved instructors, fully qualified First Aiders and a Safeguarding Officer.

We have a long tradition. For us, it's not all about serious training: we love it when our teams win, but we're just as enthusiastic about our groups that simply meet for fun.

We are proudly a fully inclusive club. Anyone is welcome to join us. We also have a Para Division for those with disabilities. Our qualified trainers are team members just like anyone else and will be happy to tell you more about the sports activities we offer and help you find the place that's right for you.

We are always happy to welcome new members who are interested in joining in with club activities, helping us organise events or excursions and being part of our community.
